Certificate-use rules
How a certificate may and may not be described.
Certificate misuse is one of the quickest ways to destroy trust. These draft rules explain how certificate claims should be made and when they must stop.
Permitted use
- Use the certificate only while its status is active.
- Use it only in connection with the certified scope.
- Describe it accurately as non-UKAS certification where relevant.
Not permitted
- Claiming UKAS accreditation where none exists
- Continuing to use a certificate after expiry, suspension or withdrawal
- Presenting the certificate as covering activities outside its defined scope
